  • Help the Troops

Hello my name is Brittany Gonsoulin. I am the 2009 Washington Catfish Festival Queen. I am putting together a project called "toe tappin' to our troops".I am trying to put together project for Soldiers in Iraq. Since we are all from Cajun Country I wanted to collect Cd's from anyone who has some  Cajun music from any musician from Louisiana and collect them. Kenneth and Becky Richard is friends with a solider named John Miller. He enjoys listening to cajun music and shares the music with other soldiers there. He said that when he listens to the music it reminds him of home and it passes the time...It is very stressful out there and if we can send them music to listen to it would be real nice. I thought maybe we can collect a Cd from each festival. Once we do this we can send them all to the contact person we have in Iraq. He will then distribute them to the soldiers. If you can heCoollp in any way we would really appreciate this.

    Thank you,

    Brittany Gonsoulin

  • A whole new world.

    Hello Cajundrummer,

Please pass on my best wishes to Ms Consoulin and thank her for showing me a whole new world.
I think we here in the UK don't know just how different it is in America, until we read about such events as the Washington Catfish Festival.   Fantastic!!
Unfortunately I can't help Brittany out with any Cajun CDs..   I have a few in my collection, bought from the USA after hearing them on Kbon, but they are my pride and joy, and I listen to them regularly.
Having read of her achievements and aims in the local papers (via the internet, of course) I hope she gets a good response from Kbonners and has a good year as the 2009 Washington Catfish festival Queen.

    Best wishes to you all...
