Has anyone ever tried those Green Bags that are supposed to keep your fruits and vegetables fresh weeks longer than traditional storage methods? My mom bought some. Her bananas looked great on the outside for quite a while but the insides ripened just as fast as ever. I'm right now trying the aluminum foil method of storing celery. I don't know that it works any better than the plastic bag it comes in. But this is garden celery so there is not a plastic bag. And what about Dawn dishwashing liquid? I think it used to work much better than it does now. I used to be able to wash a whole sink full of dishes and still get the greasy pans clean. Not anymore. Now I'm lucky to get half the load of dishes done before i have to add more Dawn. I wrote a letter to P&G last night to complain. My mom tried that with the Cherokee clothing brand you get at Target. She bought a t-shirt and after washing it became very short and very wide. So she complained about the quality compared to what she paid for it. They sent her a hat. Oh, and get this! My husband thought he was going to save a bunch of money by buying zipper close storage bags at the convenience store for $1.00 a box. He was so proud of his purchase. I was going to use one that night and guess what - the bags were sealed shut all the way around! We laughed so hard. I wrote to the company to mention it to them but never heard back from them. I was going to mail the whole box of them but thought they might think it a criminal intent so I didn't do it. I did hear back from the makers of the Banana Flip. We like them immmensely and wondered why we could no longer find them in the stores. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore but was assured the bakery in my area would be contacted to let them know of my concerns. I though that was quite nice. I should write to Bissel one day, too. I bought one of those Spot Lifters they made. First off, it cost like 50 bucks. Secondly, after reading the instructions realized that it would only work for 5 minutes at a crack and had to be charged for 24 hours between uses. If that wasn't bad enough, it quit working after only about ten uses. I couldn't take it back to the store because I'd already had it longer than a year (but not much longer). But the thing is, I hardly used it. So with great trepidation I bought their Little Green Clean Machine. i got a deal on it at Kmart during their employee and family "appreciation" day sale. That and my employee discount. Kmart bites but that's another blog for another time.
We, that is my husband and I, were looking through our basement storage area one day. Speaking of products you love to dislike. We found some very interesting 70's camping gear. One thing was a "shower". It was like a bag with a hose on it. We found the fore-runner of today's travel mug. This is a thin plastic coffee cup whose base slides into a holder and attaches to your dash with foam tape. We also found a metal detector. I don't know who in their right mind would use this thing much less lug it around. It comes with a separate battery box that holds not 3 or 4 but FIFTEEN "D" cell batteries. The actual unit also takes a bunch of "AA"s. Can you imagine the cost and the weight of that thing? Ah, memory lane! Oh and we also found an Epi-Lady. This is an electric unit for removing unwanted hair by means of a large angry-looking coil. I think i'll mail it to my friend, DeeAnne, for Christmas. She just turned 50 not that long ago and is complaining of suddenly having unwanted hair on her upper lip. She's the one who brought me to Jazz Fest in the first place and gave me my first taste of Louisiana. We laughed so much and had so much fun.
